5 of the Best Things to Do During Spring in the Finger Lakes

1. Keuka Lake Wine Trail

Did you know that the Finger Lakes is New York’s premier wine country? Our region is home to more than 100 wineries, so no trip to our area would be complete without visiting a Finger Lakes wine trail.

The Keuka Lake Wine Trail is one of the best! It only takes one hour to drive the complete circuit, making it easy to visit all six member wineries in a single day. Be sure to purchase a Wine Tasting Passport before you start the journey!

2. Watkins Glen State Park

The Finger Lakes region is known for its natural beauty. Whether you’re in the water or on land, there’s no shortage of jaw-dropping views. Watkins Glen State Park is a great place for your first hike of the season. The Gorge Trail, the park’s most popular hiking trail, re-opens in late spring. This is the best time of year to visit the park, as the waterfalls are in full effect from the melted ice and snow!

3. Corning Museum of Glass

Don’t forget to add a couple of indoor items to your itinerary in case you encounter spring showers! Spend rainy days discovering the museums in Hammondsport, including the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, Finger Lakes Boating Museum, Rockwell Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, and International Motor Racing Center.

4. Glenn H. Curtiss Museum

The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum is one of our town’s top attractions! This regional history museum focuses on the life and legacy of motorcycle pioneer & early aviator Glenn Curtiss, including his impact on the aviation industry. This museum also showcases the history of Hammondsport, Keuka Lake, and other regional stories. Best of all, it’s less than a half-mile from the Hammondsport Hotel, so it’s easy to visit this museum during your stay!

5. Finger Lakes Boating Museum

The 11 Finger Lakes total more than 4,500 square miles of water. That said, no trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York would be complete without learning about the area’s maritime culture. The Finger Lakes Boating Museum, located right here in Hammondsport, is the best place to learn about the history of boating and boat building across the Finger Lakes region.
