Winter
Average Temperatures: High 36°F, Low 19°F
While the Finger Lakes region of New York State is often associated with warm-weather getaways, winter is our area’s best-kept secret. With below-freezing temperatures and an average of 47 inches of snow per year, winter is a great time of year to visit Hammondsport if you’re seeking winter weather, excellent skiing, and fewer visitors.
Here’s what to add to your winter packing list:
- Layers
- Winter coat
- Gloves, sweater, and a hat
- Warm socks
- Waterproof boots
Spring
Average Temperatures: High 58°F, Low 36°F
The snow melts as winter turns to spring, and flowers begin to bud along the local hiking trails. However, it’s important to remember that spring weather arrives later in the season, usually around May. If you’re visiting in March or April, we recommend bringing a variety of apparel, as temperatures can change drastically between day and night.

Summer
Average Temperatures: High 81°F, Low 59°F
Summer is the more idyllic season in the Finger Lakes. Our area offers relief from the unbearable summer heat of other regions of the U.S. With high temperatures in the 80s, it’s possible to spend the entire day outdoors. From splashing in Keuka Lake to dining at lakeside restaurants, there are so many ways to enjoy the mild summers in the Finger Lakes!

Fall
Average Temperatures: High 62°F, Low 43°F
As locals, fall is our favorite season in the Finger Lakes. During this time of year, you can view incredible fall foliage, enjoy sweater weather, and enjoy fewer crowds as tourist season dies down. It’s also a great time of year to visit the vineyards along the Keuka Lake Wine Trail!
