Here are our 4 Favorite Finger Lakes Hiking Trails 

1. Keuka Outlet Trail 

Keuka Outlet Trail is a 6.8-mile-long trail system bordering the Keuka Lake Outlet. As you follow this rail trail between Penn Yan and Dresden, you’ll pass cascading waterfalls, flowing creeks, old mill sites, and more! This hiking trail is suitable for all ability levels, so it’s a great option for family or group travelers! 

2. Keuka Lake State Park 

Keuka Lake State Park is another great spot for hiking in the Finger Lakes. This 621-acre New York state park has eight hiking trails that range from 0.4 miles to 1.3 miles long. Some trails lead to the beach while others guide visitors into the dense, forested areas of the park. 3. Finger Lakes Trail  

With 1,000 miles of hiking trails from Allegany State Park to Catskill Forest Preserve, the Finger Lakes Trail system is the most impressive recreation area in the region. The town of Hammondsport is near the Bristol Hills Branch Trail and the Finger Lakes Trail. In fact, there’s a trail entrance about a mile from our hotel! View this interactive map to start planning your route. 

4. Watkins Glen State Park 

Watkins Glen State Park is one of the most popular spots for hiking in the Finger Lakes. Located just a 30-minute drive from Hammondsport, this New York state park is home to the famed Gorge Trail. The 1.5-mile-long Gorge Trail follows the flow under Glen Creek, which descends 400 feet, creating 19 waterfalls along the path. It’s especially beautiful in the spring after it’s rained!
